石英砂是石英石經破碎加工而成的石英顆粒。石英石（quartz rock）亦稱硅石，是一種質地堅硬、耐磨、化學性質穩定的硅酸鹽類礦物。在自然界中以石英砂巖、石英巖和脈石英存在。石英砂巖是固結的碎屑巖石，石英碎屑含量達95%以上。

二、石英砂用途：

石英砂是重要的工業礦物原料，廣泛用于玻璃、鑄造、陶瓷及耐火材料、冶金、建筑、化工、塑料、橡膠、磨料等工業。應用領域用途玻璃平板玻璃、浮法玻璃、玻璃制品（玻璃罐、玻璃瓶、玻璃管等）、光學玻璃、玻璃纖維、玻璃儀器、導電玻璃、玻璃布及防射線特種玻璃等的主要原料陶瓷及耐火材料瓷器的胚料和釉料，窯爐用高硅磚、普通硅磚以及碳化硅等的原料冶金硅金屬、硅鐵合金和硅鋁合金等的原料或添加劑、熔劑建筑混凝土、膠凝材料、筑路材料、人造大理石、水泥物理性能檢驗材料（即水泥標準砂）。
